Berry Pomeroy Castle

The castle has been through extensive excavation between 1980 and 1996 and there have been several items that have been recovered. The Tudor mansion, 15th century gatehouse, curtain walls and rampart are what you will be able to see when you visit this castle. Legend has it that the White Lady haunts the dungeons and towers. The dungeons were the place where Margaret Pomeroy was kept prisoner by her cousin Eleanor Pomeroy where she eventually died. The castle is open daily from 10 a.m. (from April to October) and closes at 5 p.m. The Berry Pomeroy Castle is part of the English Heritage.
